Bhawanipatna: Solving the mystery surrounding the murder of a 30-year-old woman and her two sons, Kalahandi police have arrested the prime accused, who has been identified as the father of the children.

Linga Majhi, the accused, had initially killed his wife by slitting her throat and dumped the body on a railway track. Later, he returned home and murdered his two sons in a similar manner, said Kalahandi SP Battula Gangadhar at a press meet here today.

He took the extreme step over his extramarital affair with a woman. Three months ago, the accused had eloped with a married woman. Later, she returned to her family. After Linga's repeated requests of reconciliation were turned down by his wife, the former conspired to eliminate the woman. The accused has confessed to the crime, the police official added.

Bimla Majhi, the deceased woman, and his two sons were found dead yesterday. While her body was found lying on the railway track, the two children--Rabindra Majhi (4) and Dushmant Majhi (6)-- were lying dead in a pool of blood inside their house at Singhjharan village under Sadar police limits in the district.
