New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Doctor Omkar Hota again hit the headlines not for his duty towards patients in tribal region, but for attending a programme by UNICEF and sharing dais with Bollywood beauty Kareena Kapoor Khan on Mother's Day.

It was a proud moment for entire Odisha as Dr Omkar Hota joined the discussion during the UNICEF programme and had opportunity to share his opinion about safe delivery of pregnant women at hospital and vaccinating the newborns in the tribal regions.

Sharing dais with Kareena Kapoor, who is a celebrity advocate for UNICEF, at a progamme held at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on the occasion of Mother's Day on Sunday, Dr Hota said, "I want every woman of my country to have delivery in hospital so that both the mother and newborn will be in good condition."

"The women living in tribal areas should be taught health related education to be aware and to put a step forward to the hospital during pregnancy," he said during the programme.

He batted for 100% immunization for children and education for them.

"Education is must for all the children as this is the only weapon through which they can root out all the evils present in our society. This is the goal of my life and I am working on it," the doctor added.

Notably, Dr Omkar Hota had hit the headlines in November last year for standing true to his duty. He carried a tribal woman, who was bleeding after delivering child, on his shoulders for 10 km to a Public Health Centre (PHC) in Paplur of Malkangiri district.
