Odisha govt bans single-use plastic in offices

Bhubaneswar: Days after announcing ban on plastic in urban areas of Odisha from October 2, the State Government has decided for implementing the same in offices and meetings.

An order, issued by General Administration Department Principal Secretary Sanjeev Chopra, has directed state government employees not to use PET water bottles, plastic cups and plates in the offices and during official meetings.

The employees have been advised to use stainless steel or glass bottles for fetching water from purifiers installed at offices. They have been asked to use glass bottles and paper cups & plates during official meetings.

Recently, the Keonjhar district administration had decided to replace single-use plastic bowls and plates with sal leaf plates and bowls for serving snacks at official meetings.
