Odisha govt reduces kerosene quota to 2 litre under PDS

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has decided to reduce kerosene quota of BPL families of the state, under the public distribution system (PDS).

Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain declared in the Assembly today that instead of 2.5 litre kerosene, each family will now be provided with 2 litre kerosene.

This reduced kerosene quota will be implemented from August, this year.

Till July 2019, the Centre was providing 20,700 kilolitre kerosene to Odisha per month, that has been reduced to 16,384 kilolitre, the minister said.

Earlier, 650 ml of kerosene per family per month was provided under the PDS that was later increased to 2.5 litre in June 2018.
