Odisha: Hindol MLA Simarani Nayak quits BJD after being denied ticket for 2024 polls

Bhubaneswar: Hindol MLA Simarani Nayak today resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) after the ruling party denied her a ticket to fight the 2024 Assembly polls in Odisha.

Nayak, a two-time MLA, has sent her resignation letter to Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik.

She resigned from the primary membership of BJD. Nayak cited personal problem as the reason behind her resignation from the ruling party.

She thanked the BJD supremo for giving her an opportunity to serve the people of Hindol Assembly constituency in Dhenkanal for 10 years.

Notably, the BJD has picked Mahesh Sahu as its candidate to fight the 2024 Assembly polls from Hindol seat.
