Bhubaneswar: Odisha police arrested four accused persons from Gujarat in connection with a cyber fraud case.
The four fraudsters were nabbed from Fatewadi in Ahmedabad for allegedly duping a person of around Rs 60 lakh on the pretext of investment in online trading.
Based on a complaint lodged in Bhubaneswar on May 4, a team of cybercrime unit of the Odisha Crime Branch initiated an investigation into the case. The team led by Inspector Jibanananda Jena collected digital evidence against the accused persons and traced their whereabouts in Gujarat.
After tracking their locations, the Cybercrime police team proceeded to Ahmedabad for investigation.
With the support of the Crime Branch of Gujarat Police, the team raided various locations and apprehended four accused persons from Fatewadi.
During the probe, the police found that the complainant fell prey to a cybercrime syndicate that allured him for online trading investment and in that process the fraudsters extracted around Rs 60 lakh from him.
The accused persons were produced before a local court in Ahmedabad and were brought on a transit remand to Bhubaneswar. The Crime Branch produced the accused persons before the SDJM court in Bhubaneswar that remanded them to judicial custody.
