Bhubaneswar: A court in Odisha’s Ganjam district today sentenced a man and his four sons to life imprisonment after convicting them in a double murder case.

The Additional District Sessions Judge First Class in Ganjam awarded life imprisonment to convicts Dhanu Swain and his four sons—Kartik Swain, Amin Swain, Bhagwan Swain and Saroj Swain—after examining at least 19 witnesses and other evidence to the case, said public prosecutor Soubhagya Mishra.

The court, however, acquitted three women in connection with the case, he added.

As per the case records, some people had killed Gula Swain and his son Rajiv Swain of Jagannathpur under Patapur police limits in Ganjam over past enmity on December 28, 2013. The incident took place near a village pond.

The police had arrested at least eight persons in connection with the double murder case.
