Odisha: No relief for former OCA secretary as court denies bail

Bhubaneswar: It was a disappointing day for former Secretary of Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) Ashirbad Behera as his bail plea was rejected by the District and Session Judge Court today. This is the second time Behera’s bail plea has been rejected.

Earlier he had moved a plea in the Special CBI court for granting him bail on health grounds. However, the court denied the former OCA secretary bail and sent him to judicial custody till October 1.

Behera and owner of Hotel Solan Inn in Bhubaneswar, Kamalakanta Das were arrested by CBI on September 19 for their alleged links with the Artha Tatwa chit fund scam.

Last month the CBI had filed additional chargesheet against the duo. After the special CBI court issued a non-bailable arrest warrants, Behera was arrested from Cuttack whereas the hotelier was nabbed from Old Town area of Bhubaneswar.
