Bhubaneswar: Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) today issued advisory to collectors of several districts in view of the possible flood and waterlogging situation as the Regional Meteorological Centre has forecasted heavy rainfall in the regions.

Collectors of Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Gajapati, Puri, Koraput, Balangir, Rayagada and Nuapada have been directed to keep the administrative machinery fully prepared to tackle possible flood/waterlogging/landslide that may arise in the event of intense rainfall.

They have been asked to make advance arrangements to evacuate people from vulnerable locations to safe shelters, if required, and provide adequate food, drinking water, lighting, health and sanitation facilities at the shelters/relief camps.

"Arrangements may be made to clear the road communication in the event of landslide in hilly areas," the SRC advised. The official has also directed Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) in all districts to operate round the clock.
