Odisha to introduce skill development training at college level; produce industry-ready workforce

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today stressed on increasing the ambit of skill development trainings to college students to make them industry-ready.

The state government may tie up with industrial houses to provide skill development training to college students, said Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain at a review meeting of the department today.

“The state government is now providing skill development training to a limited number of students. The facility should be extended to college students to make them industry-ready,” he added.

The college students can be provided with the skill development training in additional to their existing curricula, said the Minister.

He also put emphasis on providing skill enhancement training to the members of Mission Shakti women self-help groups (SHGs).

The state government will set up skill hubs in all 30 districts of Odisha to provide the necessary training to college students and create proper awareness on them, said the Minister.

“The state government will launch an awareness campaign in this regard on World Youth Skills Day on July 15. Two campaign vehicles will be flagged off on the occasion. Students of various ITIs, polytechnic institutes and other technical institutes will be included in the awareness campaign will be included in the awareness campaign,” said the Minister.
