Bhubaneswar: An eight-year-old boy died after being allegedly kicked in the chest by his mother in Odisha’s Malkangiri district yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Rohit Padiami of Tumbaguda village under Kalimela police station in Malkangiri.

As per reports, Rohit had allegedly stolen money from their home recently. Angered over the incident, Rohit’s mother Wagi Padiami kicked him in the chest last night.

Rohit collapsed and died on the spot. On being informed, police reached the spot today morning and detained the accused woman for questioning.

The police have launched a probe into the incident and a scientific team has been called in to assist in the investigation.
