Odisha's MPC College bags National Service Scheme Award

Bhubaneswar: The Maharaja Purna Chandra (Autonomous) College in Odisha's Baripada has been conferred with the prestigious National Service Scheme Award 2017-18.

The educational institution bagged the award for having one of the best NSS units in the country. President Ram Nath Kovind presented a trophy and cash award of Rs 1,00,000 to Jharana Behera, MPC College Principal, at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan yesterday.

Similarly, Programme Officer Kailash Chandra Mishra was conferred with a silver medal, certificate and cash award of Rs 70,000.

Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Department of Youth Affairs confers every year the National Service Scheme Award to recognise and reward outstanding contributions towards voluntary community service made by the Universities/Senior Secondary (+2) Councils, NSS Units/Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers.
