Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its official list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council elections, unveiling four nominees and generating considerable political interest with the inclusion of Bhojpuri film star Pawan Singh.

The names were announced through an official communication issued under the signature of the party's National General Secretary and Headquarters In-charge, Arun Singh.

The party has nominated Pawan Singh, Sanjay Mayukh, Anil Kumar Thakur, and Sheela Pandit.

The nomination of Pawan Singh, widely known as the Power Star of Bhojpuri cinema, is being viewed as the most significant aspect of the BJP's announcement.

A prominent actor and singer with a substantial following across the Bhojpuri-speaking belt, his inclusion is expected to enhance the party's outreach among younger voters and cultural audiences in Bihar and adjoining regions.

Political observers have been speculating about Pawan Singh's formal entry into active politics for some time, and his nomination for the Legislative Council effectively marks a major step in that direction.

The party has once again nominated Sanjay Mayukh, one of its senior leaders and chief spokespersons in Bihar.

This is the third time that the BJP has entrusted him with a Legislative Council candidature, reflecting the leadership's confidence in his organisational and political experience.

Anil Kumar Thakur, regarded as a dedicated grassroots worker, has also been given an opportunity to represent the party in the Upper House.

The inclusion of Sheela Pandit underscores the BJP's emphasis on women's participation and representation in the political process.

Through its candidate selection, the BJP appears to have attempted a balance between experienced political figures, grassroots organisational leaders, women's representation, and popular public personalities.

The combination of an established party strategist like Sanjay Mayukh, a mass-cultural figure such as Pawan Singh, and organisational faces like Anil Kumar Thakur and Sheela Pandit reflects the party's broader electoral strategy ahead of the Legislative Council elections.
