Bhubaneswar: In the wake of recent thefts reported from donation hundis at the Ram Temple and Badrinath Temple, senior Congress leader and former minister Narasingha Mishra has raised serious concerns over the auditing of the hundi (donation box) at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.

Mishra stated the hundi collections of the Srimandir are required to be audited annually, with reports submitted to the government. However, he alleged no audit report has been made available since 2015.

Referring to the last audit conducted in 2015, Mishra claimed it had revealed significant irregularities. The absence of audit reports over the past several years has raised questions over transparency, accountability, and financial oversight in the temple administration.

Calling for immediate action, the Congress leader urged the Odisha government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a thorough probe into the matter. He also demanded strict action against those found responsible.

The issue has sparked a broader debate on transparency and governance in the management of temple funds, with growing calls for stronger monitoring mechanisms.
