Reserve police constable found dead in hotel room at Odisha’s Balangir; cops suspect murder

Bhubaneswar: A personnel of Sonepur Reserve Police was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel at Odisha’s Balangir today.

The deceased has been identified as Shankarbhanu Behera. He was working as a constable at Sonepur Reserve Police.

Behera was found dead with his hands and legs tied inside the toilet of room no. 212 at Indraprastha hotel near Balangir railway station.

Police suspected that he had been killed by someone inside the hotel room.

Behera along with another person had checked into the hotel at around 11 am yesterday. The hotel room had been booked in the name of one Vineet Sharma from Jharkhand, sources said.

Sharma has been missing since the incident.

On being informed, officials of Balangir Town police reached the spot and seized the body before launching a probe into the incident.

A scientific team has been called in to assist in the investigation.
