Shame again! Tribal girl of residential school in Odisha found pregnant

Mohana: In yet another shameful incident, a tribal girl student studying at a residential high school in Mohana of Gajapati district was found to be pregnant. Sources said the girl student, who studies Class X at the residential school, is five months pregnant.

As per reports, when authorities of the residential high school came to know that the girl student has not been menstruating for past two months, they took her for medical tests at the Mohana Community Health Centre. During the examination, it was found out that the girl student is pregnant.

After receiving the information, Gajapati Collector Anupam Saha directed Mohana BDO Bansidhara Khosala and police to probe the matter. This apart, the District Child Welfare official is inquiring the case.

Yesterday, a Class-VII girl student was found to be pregnant in Papadahandi area of Nabarangpur district. The matter came to fore after a complaint was lodged by the mother of the girl student at the Papadahandi police station.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested one youth of Ghusurabedha village under the POCSO Act and various sections of the IPC.
