BIG STORY

Bhubaneswar: The Temple City was all decked up for the 71st Independence Day and SKIVAS Tattoo Studio was all set for its most awaited event. Dwarikanath Charitable Trust and Skivas Tattoo Studio organized a two-day tattoo event on the 15th and 16th of August called Mystery Canvas.

Mystery Canvas was all about anonymity. Any tattoo enthusiast could walk into the studio and then they were asked to put their arm into a hole in a large canvas-like wall to get a tattoo made, without having an idea as to who the artist on the other side was and what the design of the tattoo would be. Though this was definitely an element of surprise, the central theme of all the designs was freedom.

Internationally acclaimed tattoo artist Das Niloy and one of India's best tattoo artists Amin Sultan, who also has a long list of celebrity clientele, were among the six tattooists who became a part of this event. On August 15, about 40 people got tattooed and some lucky folks got a chance to be inked by Das Niloy himself. Amin Sultan, along with other budding tattoo artists took over on Day 2 and carved tattoos on 30 more individuals.

“Heartiest thanks to my mystery artist for this beautiful tattoo and loads of love to team SKIVAS for this unique and beautiful event”, Bismoy one of the people who got a tattoo done at Mystery Canvas, wrote on social media. Likewise, many others who got inked flaunted their tattoo with pride and panache on various social media platforms.

Tattoo artist and the man behind SKIVAS Om Acharya said, "The entire idea behind this event on Independence Day was to motivate and encourage artists who follow their passion for tattoo-making and body art as a culture in our society".
