Bhubaneswar: A special screening of popular Odia movie ‘Prateekshya’ was held in Ireland recently.

The movie, produced and directed by Anupam Patnaik, was screened at Scientology Community Centre in Ireland’s Dublin on August 13.

More than 75 people, including Odias living in Ireland, a few Bengalis and locals, attended the special screening.

Prateekshya, written by Rosan Bisoi, is inspired by Gourahari Das’ short story ‘Bapa’. The movie is all about the dreams, desperation and aspirations of a middleclass family.

This is the first occasion when the special screening of an Odia movie was held in Ireland.

The audience acknowledged the realistic and natural storytelling and applauded the screen performances of Barsha Patnaik, Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Jayprakash Das and renowned Odia actor Siddhanta Mahapatra.

The audience watched the film by munching on Jhalmudhi and Samosa. Apart from movie screenings, lots of fun games were also organised for the children.

Many Odias living in Ireland have pledged their support for similar initiatives in the future.
