Bhubaneswar: As many as 29 MPs from Odisha were appointed as the members of various parliamentary committees at Centre with immediate effect.

While Puri MP Pinaki Mishra and Rajya Sabha member Amar Patnaik were appointed as the members of the Committee on Finance headed by Jayant Sinha, woman MP from Bhadrak Lok Sabha constituency Manjulata Mandal got place in the Committee on Commerce.

Similarly, two Odisha MPs were appointed as the members of Committee on Defence headed by Jual Oram. They were Sambalpur MP Nitesh Gangadeb and Jagatsinghpur MP Rajashree Mallick.

Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samant and Jajpur MP Sarmistha Sethi were given charge as the members of Committee on External Affairs and Committee on Home Affairs respectively.

Nabarangpur MP Ramesh Majhi and Rajya Sabha MP Prasanna Acharya were appointed as the members of the Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture. Lok Sabha's youngest woman MP Chandrani Murmu from Keonjhar and Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra were inducted to the Committee on Human Resources Development as the members.

Besides, Rajya Sabha MP Ashwini Vaishnaw, N Bhaskar Rao and Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahoo were appointed as the members of Committee on Science & Technology, Environment and Forests.

Kalahandi MP Basant Panda and Rajya Sabha MP Prashant Nanda were given new charge as the members of Committee on Coal and Steel.

While Mayurbhanj MP Bisweswar Tudu and Rajya Sabha member Ranjib Biswal were appointed as the members of Committee on Chemicals & Fertilisers, Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari was inducted to the Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law & Justice.

Aska MP Pramila Bisoyi and Koraput MP Saptagiri Ulaka were among the members of the Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution. Berhampur MP Chandrasekhar Sahoo was given new charge as the member of Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas headed by Ramesh Bidhuri.

Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab and Rajya Sabha MP Raghunath Mohapatra were appointed as the member of Committee on Labour.

Meanhwile, Kendrapara Lok Sabha MP Anubhav Mohanty and Balangir MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo were assigned as the members of Committee on Committee on Railways. Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi and Rajya Sabha MP Narendra Kumar Swain were appointed as the members of Committee on Urban Development and Committee on Water Resources respectively.
