Yellow alert: No respite from Heat Wave in these Odisha districts during next 48 hours

Bhubaneswar: Despite the Southwest Monsoon setting in over Odisha, Heat Wave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over several districts of Odisha during the next two days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar forecasted today.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through 20.5°N/60°E, 20.5°N/63°E, 20.5°N/70°E, Navsari, Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bijapur, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram, 19.5°N/88°E, 21.5°N/89.5°E, 23°N/89.5°E and Islampur. Conditions are quite favourable for further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Northwest Bay of Bengal during next 3-4 days.”

The highest maximum (day) temperature of 42.2°C was recorded at Nuapada and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 23.5°C was recorded at Boudh in the plains of Odisha.

Temperature Forecast: No large change in the Maximum (day) temperature during next three to four days at many places over the districts of Odisha.

For Thursday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 14.06.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Odisha.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Nuapada, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur.

Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Boudh, and Subarnapur.

Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

For Friday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 14.06.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 15.06.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Odisha.

Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Boudh, Subarnapur, and Bargarh.

Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
