Yellow alert: No respite from Heat Wave in these Odisha districts during next 5 days

Bhubaneswar: Despite the Southwest Monsoon setting in over Odisha, Heat Wave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over several districts of Odisha during the next five days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted today.

In its evening bulletin, the IMD stated, “Southwest Monsoon has advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, south Maharashtra, Telangana and some parts of south Chhattisgarh and south Odisha and some more parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh today, the 08th June, 2024. The Northern Limit of Monsoon now passes through 18.0°N/60°E, 18.0°N/65°E, 17.5°N/70°E, Harnai, Baramati, Nizamabad, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram, 19.5°N/88°E, 21.5°N/89.5°E, 23°N/89.5°E and Islampur.”

The highest maximum temperature of 43.3°C was recorded yesterday at Bolangir. The lowest minimum temperature of 22.0°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Temperature Forecast: Gradual rise in the Maximum (day) temperature by 2°C to 4°C during next three days and no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Weather forecast and warning in Odisha districts for next 2 days:

For Saturday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kalahandi and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.

Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

For Sunday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Rayagada, Gajapati and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir, and Nuapada.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada.

Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
