2 killed, over 30 injured as bus falls off bridge in Odisha's Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: In a tragic incident, at least two persons died and more than 30 others sustained injuries as a bus in which they were travelling fell off Lalpolia bridge on NH-26 near Bhawanipatna in Odisha's Kalahandi district early this morning.

According to reports, the accident took place around 5.30 am while the bus was on its way to Bhawanipatna from Bhubaneswar. The driver of the ill-fated vehicle lost control over the wheels following which it plunged into a 30-feet deep gorge.

On being informed about the mishap, fire personnel reached the spot and launched rescue operations along with the locals.

While the bus conductor and a child died in the accident, the injured ones were admitted to the district headquarters hospital. Some of them were later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla as their condition deteriorated, sources said.
