Act as agents of transformation, Naveen advises BJD leaders

Bhubaneswar: Chairing the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) executive committee meeting here today, party supremo Naveen Patnaik advised the BJD leaders to act as agents of transformation and bring cheer in the lives of people of Odisha.

"I want people to see integrity in our approach and actions. The BJD performed well in the elections due hardwork by the party workers. I thank them for their efforts," the BJD chief said.

He also advised the leaders to work with various institutions for promoting and spreading the philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi, and intensify 'Jeebana Bindu', a blood donation campaign of the party.

Patnaik sought active participation of the leaders in the membership drive of the party, which is scheduled to begin from tomorrow and continue till October 31. The party chief will assess the progress of the membership drive once in every 15 days, he said.

The BJD has decided to double its number of members from the existing 47 lakh during the membership drive. The drive will be intensified at the district and block levels by involving local leaders, party sources said.

Patnaik has formed a state-level committee to monitor and co-ordinate the membership drive. BJD leaders Prasanna Acharya, Debiprasad Mishra, Pramila Mallick, Sanjay Kumar Das Burma, Pratap Keshari Deb, Pradeep Panigrahi and Pranab Prakash Das have been included in the committee.
