ASER-2022: Enrollment in government schools up in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The percentage of children in the age group 6 to 14 enrolled in government schools in Odisha has gone up sharply in recent years.

As per the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2022, the percentage of children enrolled in government schools in Odisha went up from 88 per cent in 2018 to 92.1 per cent in 2022 despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Odisha’s effort to improve education through school transformation has reflected positively in the ASER-2022. As per the report, the percentage of kids enrolled in government schools rose from 88 per cent in 2018 to 92.1 per cent in 2022,” said the Chief Minister’s Office in a twitter post today.

The report also highlighted improvement in basic infrastructure in schools in Odisha. The percentage of useable toilets in schools in the state rose from 75.7 per cent in 2018 to 82.1 per cent in 2022, said the report.

Provision of separate useable toilets for girls in schools in Odisha went up from 69.1 per cent in 2018 to 76.5 per cent in 2022.

Similarly, as many as 93.7 per cent schools in Odisha had electricity connection in 2022 against only 56.5 per cent in 2018, said ASER 2022.
