Bhubaneswar: Former Judge Balakrishna Mohapatra was sworn in as the State Information Commissioner (SIC) at Raj Bhavan here today.

Governor Ganeshi Lal administered the oath to Mohapatra in presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy and Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik.

A notification regarding appointment of Mohapatra as the SIC was issued by the Information and Public Relation (I & PR) Department on July 7.

Prior to this, Mohapatra served as the District and Sessions Judge of Ganjam. He was also a Members Secretary to State Legal Services Authority.
