Bali Jatra concludes with huge turnout in Odisha's Cuttack

Cuttack: The historical mega trade fair Bali Jatra registered a huge turnout during a week-long event in silver city of Odisha.

The Bali Jatra, which concluded on Saturday, recorded over Rs 100 crore in past eight days receiving very good response this year as compared to previous year.

The annual trade fair registered record breaking sales on the last day yesterday. The Bali Jatra ground witnessed huge crowd on the Mahanadi river bed due to clear sky. The commuters experienced traffic congestion for hours at Bauxi Bazaar, Rani Haat and Mahanadi Ring embankment area.

The major attraction during Bali Jatra was the Pallishree Mela by Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS), which had set up 360 stalls including 22 food stalls on river bed. ORMAS registered on an average Rs 2 crore per day.

Similarly, stalls set up by divyangs and transgenders achieved Rs 2 lakh per day.

Last year, the traders had to return with great disappointment during Bali Jatra due to demonetisation of high value currency notes of Rs 500 and 1,000.
