Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today announced Bed Prakash Agarwalla’s wife Savitri as its nominee for Patkura assembly seat.

Election to the Patkura assembly segment was countermanded due to death of Bed Prakash. Patkura under Kendrapara parliamentary constituency was to go to polls today.

Party supremo Naveen Patnaik announced Savitri’s name here this evening.

“Savitri Agrawalla, widow of Bed Prakash Agrawalla, will be the BJD candidate for the bypoll to the Patkura assembly seat,” Naveen announced.

Earlier, it was speculated that Bed Prakash Agrawalla’s son Sanjay would be the BJD candidate for Patkura.

On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded veteran leader Bijoy Mohapatra from this segment.
