Kendujhar: A man was allegedly beaten to death his wife following an argument over food at Kusakala village in Nayakote police station limits under Banspal block in Odisha’s Kendujhar (Keonjhar) district. The accused allegedly dumped her body in a nearby forest after the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Menjati Munda, while her husband, Galu Munda, has been detained by the police for questioning.

According to reports, the incident took place on Tuesday evening when Galu returned home after work in an allegedly intoxicated condition and asked his wife for food. Menjati was also reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time.

A heated argument reportedly broke out between the couple, following which Galu allegedly assaulted his wife, leading to her death. He then allegedly dumped her body in a forest near the village in an attempt to conceal the crime.

The matter came to light after their son informed Nayakote police about the incident four days later. Acting on the information, police reached the spot on Friday night and recovered the body.

The police have detained the accused husband and are interrogating him. An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
