Puri: Locals this morning spotted a body wrapped in a bedsheet in a nullah in Odisha’s holy town of Puri.

It is suspected that the yet to be identified youth has been murdered and the miscreants have dumped the body in the waterbody.

The body of the man in his 40s was found near Govt ITI at Penthakata under Sea Beach Police Station limits.

A police personnel Debadutta Pradhan (ASI) found people gathering nearing a nullah. Upon reaching the spot, he saw the body in the swampy place. He then alerted the local police station following which the body was sent to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for post-mortem.

Sources said, marks around the deceased’s neck were seen which indicates that he might have been strangulated before disposing of his body.

Police have registered a case and begun inquiry into the matter.
