Rayagada: In a tragic incident, three persons died after a car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck near Pitamahal Square in Odisha's Rayagada district this morning.

According to reports, the road mishap took place while three persons from Amlapur in Andhra Pradesh were on their way to Majhighariani temple here in a Tata Indigo car.

A speeding truck hit the ill-fated vehicle killing two of them on the spot and grievously injuring another one.

While the car was severely damaged under the impact of the collision, locals rescued the victim and admitted him to the district headquarters hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

The driver of the truck fled the spot soon after the accident.
