C’garh announces compensation for Odisha tribals killed in fake encounter

Nabarangpur: The Chhattisgarh Government has announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for family members of two tribals, who were shot dead in a fake encounter by security personnel of the neighboring state.

The Government also announced to provide a job to one family member each of the two deceased.

On April 4, three youths of Semardihi village under Umerkote block in the district had gone to a forest to collect honey when a combing operation was being carried out by Chhattisgarh. Two of the three youth identified as Sahadeb Gond and and Budhising Kamar were gunned down in the encounter.

Following tension over the fake encounter, the Chattisgarh police had formed an inquiry committee that proved the encounter fake. Later, the Chhattisgarh Government announced the compensation for the families of the deceased.
