Bhubaneswar: The health condition of separated conjoined twins Jaga and Balia following second phase surgery at AIIMS in New Delhi is stable, informed Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena here today.

"By the grace of Lord Jagannath, the health condition of both Jaga-Balia is well. The health condition of Jaga has improved faster than Balia," Jena told reporters.

Jaga has started moving his hands and legs and opened his eyes. As per the information provided by the AIIMS, it will take more time to be stable completely. We all are hopeful that by the blessing of Lord Jagannath, Jaga-Balia will return their State Odisha very soon after recovery," he added.

Entire Odisha prayed for speedy recovery of separated twins Jaga and Balia following a 16-hour complicated surgery by a 30-member team of doctors at AIIMS.

However, there was panic among well wishers and the government after the doctors seemed sceptical about survival of one of the kids.

Addressing media after the surgery, AIIMS Neurosurgery Department chief A.K. Mahapatra had told that Jaga was more fragile health-wise and his condition was more critical.

“Both the kids have other health issues as well. While Jaga has heart issues, Kalia has kidney problems,” he told media on Thursday.
