Puri, Apr 29:

The construction of three gigantic wooden chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra for the famous Ratha Yatra in Odisha's Puri started today on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.

As per tradition, three wooden logs were brought to ratha khala near the Sree Jagannath Temple here. The purohits then took off a small portion of bark from the three logs with golden axe after arrival of aagyan mala from the deities.

On the other hand, the 21-days-long Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath began from today.
