Rayagada: Acting on a tip-off, Odisha Vigilance officials on Sunday intercepted the official vehicle of Gudari Range Forest Ranger Sukumar Dukhu and seized suspected ill-gotten cash amounting to ₹2.33 lakh.

The vehicle was intercepted near Indrabati Bridge in Nabarangpur while Dukhu was on his way home to Senapatri Street from Gudari.

During frisking, officials recovered ₹2.33 lakh in cash from the vehicle. Dukhu, however, failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the source of the money.

Subsequently, the cash and the official vehicle bearing registration number OD18K-7041 were seized.

Till the filing of this report, Vigilance officials were conducting simultaneous searches at three locations linked to Dukhu as part of a disproportionate assets probe.
