Kendujhar: A CISF jawan has been detained for questioning after a Plus-III college student allegedly accused him of rape in Hatadihi block of Kendujhar district.

According to the complaint, the accused, identified as Rashmi Ranjan Sethi of Mundukati village, approached the student on Thursday while she was on her way to college. He allegedly took her to a hotel near Shalabani Chhak on the pretext of some work, where she alleged he raped her inside a room.

The student, who studies at Shalapada Women’s College, returned home and narrated her ordeal to family.

She later went to Soso police station along with her family members and lodged a complaint.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case (No. 182/26) and detained Sethi for questioning.

Anandpur SDPO Kamal Kumar Panda confirmed the registration of the case and said that further investigation is underway.

Police said the survivor and the accused are residents of neighbouring villages.

As part of the investigation, the survivor underwent a medical examination. Police are probing various aspects of the alleged incident.
