Bhubaneswar: In connection with the alleged suicide of a CRPF jawan in Kandhamal district, police have arrested his wife.
The deceased, identified as Ashok Behera, a resident of Gayatri Colony in Nuasahi under the Baliguda area, is reported to have consumed poison. Acting on a complaint lodged by his mother at Baliguda police station, the police took the accused into custody.
In her complaint, the mother alleged prolonged domestic distress had driven her son to take the extreme step. She further claimed Ashok’s wife had been misusing his salary for a long time and accused her of maintaining an illicit relationship with a CRPF officer identified as Ashish Paikaray.
The complaint also stated the couple had frequent disputes over these issues for several months. It further alleged Ashok’s wife had been living separately in a rented house with their two daughters in recent months, which reportedly added to his mental stress.
Baliguda police arrested the accused on Friday and produced her before a local court.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
