Cuttack: A court in Cuttack today sent Raja Sahani, who was recently arrested after escaping from Choudwar Jail, on a seven-day police remand.

Based on a plea made by the Karnataka Police, the JMFC Court in Cuttack granted permission to take Sahani on remand for further interrogation. The remand period has been approved from April 9 to April 15.

The Karnataka Police had sought custody of the accused to question him in connection with a high-value robbery case involving jewellery worth around ₹20 crore.

Sources said the police will interrogate Sahani to uncover details about the alleged crime syndicate behind the robbery and trace the missing valuables.

The Karnataka Police team is expected to use the remand period to gather crucial leads in the case.
