Ganjam: A domestic dispute turned tragic after a man allegedly murdered his wife before dying by suicide in Saranua Palli village under Belaguntha police limits in Ganjam district.

The deceased have been identified as Chitrasen Nayak and his wife, Pooja Nayak.

According to preliminary reports, the couple had an argument on Monday over an unspecified issue, which escalated into a violent confrontation. In a fit of rage, Chitrasen allegedly attacked Pooja with a sharp cutting object at their residence, leading to her death.

After the incident, he reportedly went to an area behind the house and hanged himself from a tree.

Sources said the couple had a love marriage around seven years ago and are survived by two sons. About six months ago, Pooja had reportedly left their home in Saranua Palli and was staying in Bhubaneswar with the children, where she was working.

On being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the bodies and launched an investigation. Further details are awaited.
