Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police arrested a notorious inter-state arms dealer in Bhubaneswar today. Acting on intelligence input, the STF team was on alert since yesterday night.

Around 11:30 am today, the team intercepted the accused, Dilip Sah, near PWD IB at Saradeipur under Balianta police limits. Sah, a native of Samastipur in Bihar, was found in possession of multiple illegal firearms and ammunition.

The STF seized five firearms and seven live rounds from his possession. The cache included three 7 mm country-made automatic pistols with magazines, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, and one country-made single-shot pistol.

A senior police official stated Sah had been under surveillance for the past few days. He had allegedly been procuring firearms from Munger, Bihar, and selling them in Odisha for ₹70,000 to ₹80,000 each.

A case has been registered under Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at STF Police Station (Case No. 13 dated June 29).

Police are currently investigating to identify Sah’s local contacts and buyers.

The accused has been forwarded to the Court of SDJM, Bhubaneswar, the official added.
