Jajpur: A youth from Jammu and Kashmir, Sayed Ishaan Bukhari alias Ishaan Bukhari, was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment by the Chandikhole JMFC Court today. He was convicted on charges of forgery, cheating, and impersonation, and was also fined by the court.

The verdict was delivered based on the examination of 18 witnesses and 130 documents.

Bukhari was arrested on December 15, 2023, in a raid conducted by the Special Task Force (STF) with the assistance of Jajpur police at Neulpur in Dharmashala.

During the investigation, several forged documents were recovered from Bukhari’s possession, including fake medical degree certificates purportedly issued by Cornell University (USA), the Canadian Health Services Institute, and Christian Medical College, Vellore. Authorities also seized blank signed documents, affidavits, bonds, various identity cards, ATM cards, blank cheques, Aadhaar cards, and visiting cards.

Bukhari was chargesheeted under Sections 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, and 120(B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) read with Sections 66C and 66D of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
