Gajapati: In a shocking incident in Gajapati district, a young woman was rescued in a critically injured and semi-nude condition from a hill area, triggering widespread concern in the region.

The victim, a resident of Dhepagunja village under Adaba police limits, has alleged she was lured by a youth from R. Udayagiri identified as Rahul and later attacked.

According to her statement, the accused took her to a secluded forest near Antarada, where he allegedly attempted to sexually assault her. When she resisted, he reportedly attacked her with a knife and tried to kill her by crushing her with stones.

The woman was later found in a critically injured condition by locals, who rescued her. She was first taken to Khajuripada for treatment and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Paralakhemundi, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

Police in R. Udayagiri have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are working to trace and apprehend the accused.
