Angul: Police arrested a young man in Chhendipada, Angul district, Odisha, on charges of raping a 19-year-old woman under the false promise of marriage.

According to the complaint, the accused, identified as Falguni Dehury from Kukurapeta village, established a physical relationship with the victim after promising to marry her. The woman subsequently became pregnant and asked Dehury to fulfill his promise.

Upon learning about the pregnancy, Dehury allegedly called the victim to the Kosala Community Health Centre (CHC) and pressured her to undergo an abortion. When she refused, she approached the local authorities and filed a written complaint at the Chhendipada police station.

Based on the victim's complaint, the police registered a case. Following a preliminary investigation, officers arrested the accused and forwarded him to the court.
