Koraput: In an unfortunate incident, a pregnant woman delivered a baby girl near a drain on the premises of Koraput district headquarters hospital in Odisha today after the medical staff denied her for a checkup as she had forgot to bring the required prescription.

The woman and the newborn remained unattended near the drain for around half an hour before they were rescued and admitted to the hospital.

According to reports, Dimai Muduli (32) of Janiguda village under Mastiput panchayat in Koraput block had come to the hospital with her husband Raghu Muduli this morning due to his illness.

After treatment of her husband, she complained of labour pain and told about it to a nurse. However, the nurse asked her for the required Mamata Yojana beneficiary card and prescription which she hadn't brought with her. The staff told her to bring the documents for checkup.

Moments after, the woman went towards a toilet on the hospital premises but sat near a drain due to excess labour pain where she delivered a baby girl.

After around 30 minutes, her husband noticed the incident and informed hospital authorities following which the mother and the baby were hospitalised.
