Bhubaneswar: Ace sprinter Dutee Chand, who brought laurels to the state by winning gold at World University Games last month, has become the brand ambassador of global sports brand PUMA.

The athlete yesterday signed her first endorsement deal with the sports brand for two years. As per the deal, Dutee will be featured in advertisements for the brand and lend her name to a range of custom-made sportswear from the firm.

She will also make appearances at PUMA retail outlets and be a part of its mass media campaigns.

“It gives me great happiness that a global brand which makes great athletic gear and supports all sports has signed me for its endorsement,” Dutee wrote on her Facebook handle.

Last month, she became the the first Indian woman track and field athlete to clinch a gold medal in the World University Games by winning the women's 100m dash in Napoli, Italy by clocking 11.32 seconds.
