Envithon, plantation drive mark World Environment Day at Barbil-JSPL

Barbil: To raise awareness and action for the protection of the environment, World Environment Day was celebrated here at JSPL, Barbil on Tuesday. Plantation in the pellet plant premises and Envithon, a mini-marathon, were organised on the occasion.  More than 200 employees, women and especially children participated in this programme.

To mark the event, Unit Head of JSPL Barbil Suresha G, other officials and employees of the company planted about 500 saplings of several varieties in the plant premises.

Addressing the gathering Suresha G said, “JSPL is committed to making its plant and peripheral villages a cleaner and greener place. Besides encouraging and creating awareness among the locals who are frontrunners in saving the green belt, school children should be taught to act as environment protectors.” He also urged to minimize the use of plastic and contribute their mite to completely stop single use plastic in our day-to-day life.

In the prize distribution ceremony, as many as 70 children and employees received prizes for winning in several competitions including poster making, slogan and essay writing on “Beat Plastic Pollution” theme.

JSPL Foundation’s Co-Chairperson Shallu Jindal in her message in social media said, “JSPL Foundation’s drive for zero polythene supporting rural women to manufacture jute bags to substitute plastics, focus on Reduce, Recharge, Recycle and Reuse”.

Among others, Executive Vice President (F&A) SK Agrawal, Vice President (HR) BB Pradhan, Vice President (P&S) VCS Rao and Suvendu Kumar Dash (EMD) were present on the occasion.
