Bhubaneswar: The train services were affected between Rayagada and Titlagarh due to flash floods caused by heavy rains in southern region of Odisha.

The railway services came to standstill as the water flowing on tracks. Due to flash floods, the soil ballast below track was washed away in the morning on the route between Rayagada and Titlagarh.

According to reports, a goods train with 59 wagons travelling to Vedanta in Ambodala (AMB) Railway Station was badly affectedly as three of its wagons derailed. Following the incident, the railways officials rushed to the site with a relief train.

The train operations will resume after the water level recedes from the tracks.

"Expected restoration time shall be relayed only after water flow stops and assessment of damage is confirmed. Priority now is to move Men and materials to nearest point of site of damage so that we start restoration work at the earliest when water flow recedes, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) said in a release.

In view of the flash floods, the Railway Emergency control room has been opened.
