A person was detained by Saheed Nagar police for allegedly passing lewd comments to a girl student of Utkal University in Odisha capital on Sunday.

According to reports, Binod Kumar Sahu (50), a tutor by profession and resident of Laxmi Vihar here, passed offensive comments to a girl student of the varsity near SBI ATM inside the university campus when she was returning to ladies hostel in the evening.

The girl telephoned her friends and informed them about the incident. By the time her friends reached the spot, Binod had fled. They looked for Binod inside the campus and spotted him near VSS Nagar gate. The irate girls thrashed him with a bamboo stick and informed police about the incident.

A PCR van rushed to the spot and Binod was taken to Saheed Nagar police station where he was detained for interrogation.

The girl namely Pratikshya Acharya shared a long post on Facebook regarding the matter and mentioned how she and her friend Arpita Aparajita Badajena and tackled the situation.
