Heavy rains disrupt normal life in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The normal life was disrupted across Odisha due to heavy rains under influence low pressure over the Bay of Bengal in the past three days.

The vehicular movements were halted and passengers were stranded in the vehicles mid way here this morning.

A bus was found floating in the water in front of ISKCON temple due to waterlogging in Nayapalli area.

The situation was similar in Acharya Vihar, Jayadev Vihar, Vani Vihar, Old Town, Kalpana Square and Chandrasekharpur area.

In view of continuous rains and waterlogging situation, the authorities declared holiday for schools and colleges in Cuttack.

The unnatural floods caused by faulty drainage system also affected residents in pilgrim town of Puri. The commuters were seen struggling to reach their destinations. The devotees who flocked to the city to have darshan of Lord Jagannath on chariots and inside Gundicha temple during 9-day Ratha Jatra also faced difficulties in knee-deep water on the Grand Road.

The incessant rain also lashed southern and western parts of Odisha.
