Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will implement the new clauses in Motor Vehicle Amendment Act, 2019 from tomorrow, which has provisions of hefty fines for traffic violators.

Apart from streamlining the traffic system in the state, provisions have been made for improving services through e-governance.

“As a measure of road safety, the fines/penalties for different motor vehicle offences to act as deterrent against traffic violations. Stricter provisions are being proposed in respect of offences like drunken driving, driving without license, dangerous driving, overspeeding, overloading, driving without helmet and seat belt etc have been increased drastically along with provisions for electronic detection of violations. Further some new penalties for juvenile driving has been introduced to penalize the guardian/owner for such offence,” said a release of the state transport department.
