Bhubaneswar: Odisha is slowly inching towards generating local content for Odia netizens and in this regard, first-ever Odia horror series, Panic Shorts is all set to premier on YouTube on Sept 10.

The trailer of the series released this week is a sneak peek into this anthology web series. "This is new-age horror content. Unlike old-school horror serials that use scary makeup or eerie sounds and jump scares, we are relying more on dialogues, conversations and situation-induced twists to amp up the mystery and spooky quotient," said writer of the series, Roshan Bisoi.

Panic Shorts, directed by Anupam Patnaik (who earlier directed Odisha's first Odia biopic Tulaasi Apa), consists of five episodes slated for release every Monday. The team shot for six days in areas such as Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Narangarh. The episodes are named thus: The Wish, The New Watchman (Nua Chowkidar), The New Neighbours (Nua Padosi), The Smell (Gandha) and The Witness (Saakhi).

The cast consists of Barsha Patnaik, Choudhury Bikash Das, Hara Rath, Manisha Rath, Pragyan Bohidar, Biswadeep Das, Manju Pradhan and Roshan Bisoi.  Backhround score and music composition has been done by Ashish Pradhan and Ankesh Anand.
